Introspect/Retrospect

Now's a good time as any to write my thoughts, actions, etc for the last few months. Yep, I'm lousy @ keeping up with things over a long period of time. I'm good with short-term, fast-paced projects. Anyways,

1. Took 4 night classes plus working during the day just to see if I still have the stamina to do it. Added losing weight to the mix & I'm totally surprised I lasted until the end of the semester. Thank god it was a semester & not a quarter. Managed to lose 11 lbs and did decent in all my classes. Haven't checked my grades yet, though.

2. Made a new friend from S.F. She's totally hilarious.

3. Getting closer to getting over the fear of speaking in public. Had to do 4 this semester; each one was better than the last. Did an impromptu game-show host stint @ the office party for a game of Secret Santa.

4. I asked someout out by email & didn't get a reply back. Pride's been hurt only (hopefully).

5. Got a email from somebody I didn't expect to hear from. Hopefully that will pan out in the new year.

6. Got until Jan. 28 before classes start again to start, make headway, finish, etc some big projects. Need to get a move on.

So much stuff to do b4 class starts again. Made list of big projects. I guess I should do the singles volunteer activities to meet more people. Probably in April. Need a vacation more. Oh, New York, how I miss thee. Oh well, guess I'll go to S.F. It's just as good. Or maybe Seattle. Haven't gone there yet.

Went to Getty Museum for the 1st time last Sunday. Gorgeous place. Need to spend more time there. I guess it's worth the drive.

Spider-Man 3

The Mira Mesa Edwards just recently got the IMAX theatre installed and their first showing in the theatre was Spiderman 3 so my cousin and I decided to see the IMAX version of SM3. Tickets were 2x as expensive as regular tix but I was thinking it would be worth it since it was IMAX. Lo and behold. When we stepped into the theatre, I was so disappointed. It looked like a freaking regular showing room. It was supposed to be Hi-Def also. But still!!!!!! IMAX is supposed to be the half-globe screen with the action rushing at you and all over the screen above your head. We were jipped. My coz said that the SouthCoast theatre had the real IMAX screen. I don't think I'll see HP on IMAX. Not worth the price. The movie was ok. For some reason, can't get into the Spiderman series despite my fascination with mutant movies.

Sunday in the Park with George

Went to see Kirsten & Gene's new house (2-floors, large wrap-around yard). Played with Benjamin. He's so cute!! Heavy too @ 20 lbs @ 8 months old. He's constantly smiling his dimpled toothless grin. Held him in my arms when he had his bottle. He patted my cheeks and played with my hair while he was drinking. He slowly fell asleep in my arms. Ben is so adorable.

Later we went to the UCLA book fair. Interesting. Didn't purchase anything b/c Kirsten was constantly fussing with Ben. Noticed that the only time I could talk to her was when we were driving and Ben was sleeping in the car. Did check out 2-3 stalls. Nothing interesting that caught my eye. Next thing to do in LA is to see the Getty. Haven't been there yet.

Drove back home around 6ish. Tired. Glad to be home.

Labor Day Weekend (& After)

Saturday: Came home from work to find the water heater tank leaking water. Thankfully, clear instructions on how to close down the pipes to tank was posted on the tank. And, thankfully, we found a handyman who was still working and had the part that needed to be replace. Saw fireworks.

Sunday: Was a lazy bum and just took naps or watched TV. Watched Broken Saints. Interesting comic. Graphically ok but much more interesting storywise. Took Hachi with me to return DVDs. Too hot outside. Quickly drove back home.

Monday: Washed loads and loads of laundry. Threw out tons of trash (aka stuff that I thought I needed years before but not interested in keeping now, ex. papers). Washed dishes. Played with Hachi. Ate dinner w/ Junko & Ming. Then went back home to watch the remainder of the whole day re-runs of Dark Angel. For some reason, I am fascinated with mutant-related stuff.

Tuesday: Went back to work. Got news that my sideview mirrors have arrived!!! Yes!!! I'm getting sick of re-taping the damn mirrors to make sure they don't fall off while I'm driving.

For some reason, someone was lighting up fireworks in the area behind the houses across the street from us. It was Hachi's 1st firework viewing.
